I am a highly talented and experienced multidisciplinary PRINCE2 qualified project manager, research scientist, and problem solver with a PhD in Analytical Science from UMIST. I have developed expertise in various fields during my career, from industrial and academic research and development to research funding and lecturing. I also have excellent staff management, financial management, and project management skills.
I am technically minded, organized and competent, able to rapidly assess a situation and develop and implement strategies to maximize impact. My twenty-year career has provided me with expertise and experiences to build partnerships and connect and network with a wide range of subject specialists, stakeholders and public interest groups.
My most recent role was with an SME instrument manufacturer called Evince Technology, managing internal and external projects on behalf of the CEO. I had a broad remit covering production scale developments, external relationships and infrastructure projects, and office management and administration support to the process engineers. My recently completed PRINCE2 qualification formalizes over ten years of project management, business development and research funding expertise and enhances the skills gained during my academic research career.
I am an active peer reviewer of research funding bids and journal publications. I am a member of the EPSRC Peer Review College (UK Research Councils) and review for the British Council’s UKIERI scheme and the NIHR. I also volunteer as a digital champion for Citizens Online, working to support digital literacy and was awarded runner up in the Volunteer of the Year category for North Yorkshire County Council.
Professionally, I am a full member of the Royal Society of Chemistry, a Chartered Chemist and a Chartered Scientist, and have maintained memberships of the IChemE, the IoP and ARMA at various points in my career.
I am highly computer literate, with broad interests and a can-do attitude to all things, with a multidisciplinary approach and depth of understanding outside my core competencies. I have a wide range of complementary skills, am a competent fencer and play the bass guitar.
